Test chart (size 60x142 mm) for judgement of characteristics of photo materials and their processing, and to control photoreproduction and subsequent image processing. The main advantage of the chart is deep matt surface of both colour and grey patches. The chart is precise control tool with delicate surface. Please, protect it from moisture, dust and mechanical damage. Replace your chart regulary.

COLOUR & GREY CONTROL CHART IS DESIGNED FOR

  • checking photomaterials and their processing,
  • determining filtration and exposure in a colour reproduction process (enlarging, copying),
  • colour balancing and tone evaluation in print and in digital processing of photos.

THE CHART CONTAINS

  • Three saturated basic colours with hues based on European offset inks (yellow, magenta, cyan) and three colours originated by the combination of these basic colours (blue, green, red). The chart is printed by Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks (the biggest gamut available by ink jet print). Colour saturation is limited only by deep matt surface. The patches represent pure saturated inks with deep matt surface, the chart is not overcoated with a protective varnish against abrasion.
  • Six step grey scale with reflectancies 89%, 44,5%, 22%, 11%, 5.6%, 2.8%, with deep matt surface. It represents optical densities 0.05 for white area, 1.55 for black area and density progression 0.30 (one f/stop) between neighbouring steps.
  • Neutral grey background.

HOW TO OPERATE THE CHART

Place Colour&Grey Control Chart aside your scene not to interfere with your object. Be sure, that the chart is illuminated in the samy way as the object, without shadows on chart itself. By carefully placing the chart it can be masked out of the finished print, or simply make two exposures one with and one without the chart. Deep matt surface predetermines the chart to the most extensive use: it is suitable tool not only for reflection copy reproduction (in photoreproduction it serves in the same way as glossy Kodak chart), but olso for taking photographs of any three dimensional objects for art, advertising or documentation purposes.

You can use the chart for all types of illumination, it is universal applicable and always glareless. Determine correct exposure level using our 18% Grey Card.

Colour patches help the photographers, film / video / graphic arts camera operators, scanner and DTP operators, separators, printers and others to compare the colour of the object (e.g.chart) with its reproduction on the basis of primary printing colours. It helps them to control reproduction processes.

Grey scale enables to compare tone values of the object with its reproduction, find correct exposure and processing conditions of photo reproduction, and balance entire colour reproduction processes (photoreproduction, digital modifications, print).
