Nissin Air System (NAS) What is NAS?
NAS is a Nissin wireless radio system for controlling external flashes. It operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Compared to a traditional optical system, a radio system is less prone to beam angle, lighting conditions, and obstacles between the controller and the slave flash.
The range of the MG8 + Air10s is 100 m. To prevent interference and erroneous firing by other users or devices operating on the same frequency, 8 working channels with digital IDs coding are available. The Nissin Air10s control unit can control 8 groups (A, B, C, D, Ȧ, Ḃ, Ċ, Ḋ) of MG10 flashes.
Characteristics
Removable magnetic ZOOM head.
The Nissin MG8 flash is equipped with an automatic magnetic ZOOM head. The head can be removed and the flash used without it. The position of the flash head adjustment is secured by the lock button. The flash head can be rotated 180 ° horizontally to the right and left in the horizontal direction, tilted upwards at an angle of up to 90 ° and downwards at an angle of 7 ° (for macro photography). The power of the lamp when used without the ZOOM head is GN20 (ISO 100 / m) / 83 Ws. Thanks to this equipment, the flash expands the possibilities when working with indirect flash and offers more options for different lighting angles.
The MG8 offers “A” auto zoom mode and manual zoom mode. Available settings include 24 mm, 28 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 70 mm, 85 mm, 105 mm, 135 mm and 200 mm.
Powerful LED modeling light
Powerful 8 W modeling LED light without ZOOM head for studio work. Power can be set remotely in 25 steps using the Air10s radio control unit.
Fast charging
The MG8 flash is powered by 8 rechargeable AA batteries or two 26650 Li-ion batteries (4000 mAh and larger).
It is also possible to connect an external PS8 source (Sony version) to the flash.
When using two Li-ion batteries and an external PS8 source, the charging time is only 0.8 s. When using Li-ion batteries alone, the charging time is extended to 1.5 s, and using eight AA batteries, the flash charging time is 1.5 s.
The MG8 is equipped with magazines for both types of batteries.
OPEN mode
The MG8 flash together with the Air10s control unit offers the "OPEN" mode. New function (works only with Air 10s unit) for pairing settings.
OPEN mode allows multiple controllers to share the same set of MG8 flash units.
This eliminates the need to re-pair the controller and flash group when using multiple cameras. The same flash settings can be used when changing the camera and continuing to shoot.
Independent control of 8 groups of flashes in slave mode
With Air10s, the MG8 supports 8 flash groups. 4 basic (A, B, C, D) and 4 advanced (Ȧ, Ḃ, Ċ, Ḋ) groups. The Air10s control unit can be paired with a virtually infinite number of "slave" units.
Basic group (s) (A, B, C, D):
All paired slaves operate in the same TTL or M mode.
Advanced group (s) (Ȧ, Ḃ, Ċ, Ḋ):
Paired slave flash units can operate in various combinations of TTL and M modes.
Basic and advanced groups can be used simultaneously for different flashes.
Example:
The i60A works in Basic Group A in manual mode. At the same time, I work with two MG8 flash units in advanced groups Ȧ and Ḋ, one in TTL mode, the other in manual mode.
Applicable NAS control units: Air 1 / Air 10s
The MG8 flash can be controlled using both the Air 10s and Air 1 control units.

TTL FLASH EXPOSURE CORRECTION
Flash output can be adjusted by TTL flash exposure compensation. The camera's exposure compensation function affects the overall exposure of the image area. Flash exposure compensation adjusts the exposure for the main subject only, with minimal effect on the exposure of the background scene.
The flash output can be adjusted from −2 to +2 EV, in 1/3 EV increments.
Ports for external services
The Nissin MG8 flash supports Power Pack and Nissin Power Pack PS 8 / PS300, Sony connector. The external power supply Nissin Power Pack PS8 version for Sony and a separate source cable N057 Sony are available.
