"T-adapters, T2 adapters, T-Mount is the name for the most widely used adapters for attaching cameras with interchangeable lenses to the eyepieces of stargazing telescopes, observing telescopes, microscopes and other devices where a camera needs to be attached. The T-adapter was developed by Tamron in the 1950s to allow its lenses to be used universally on camera bodies from various manufacturers. The first letter "T" stands for Tamron. T2 is a 42 mm metric thread with a pitch of 0.75 mm. The T-adapter system is usually made of two interlocking parts, fixed by a screw, so that the camera can be rotated to the desired position on the attached device."
