Soft reflectors (or sometimes in the sunshine) are larger reflectors with a diffuser shielding the middle part, that is a direct light source.

It creates a very even and relatively wide stream of light ideal for fashion photography, portraits and product photography.

Soft reflectors are often used for short distances and the light they produce is similar to the sun - hence their alternative name.
