The color meter evaluates the color situation of the photographed or filmed scene and determines the filter to achieve optimal color reproduction. It is also used in technical and scientific fields that require accurate color values for work. ... Read More
The Kenko KCM-3100 Professional Color Meter (THK Photo Products) reads both ambient light and flashlight. What counts in photography is precision. A nice, accurate color meter is the only true and tested way to get precise readings when shooting in any form of mixed lighting scenario. A color meter is a "must" in fields such as industrial, fashion and undoubtedly architectural work.
This meter has a minimum of clutter, and is very user-friendly. Combined with its diverse features, the large LCD readout makes this meter a high end contender.
The KCM-3100 has 3 display modes to show the temperature of the light. Each mode is intended for some type of photography or filtering system. The LB (Light Balancing) index is used to select the amber or blue filter required; The difference Mired between the common color temperature for the chosen film form and the light source.
CC (Color-Correction) displays the Kodak filter number(s) of the correct light-balancing filter(s) to make the appropriate light balancing filter easy to select.
Whereas the LB system uses amber or blue filters, the CC system uses filter compensating magenta or green colour.
Finally, it shows Kelvin grade color temperature. This is a useful setting based on the light source and the spectral sensitivity of the film used to determine filtration. Other advantages of this meter are its ability to read in either sync or non-sync mode, i.e. cordless. It also has a "Analyzer Mode" only for flash lighting measurements. Setting the shutter speed to "F" the meter reads flash light only.
Lastly, The KCM-3100 has 9 memory channels that can be adjusted to different lighting conditions or individual film features. You can be pre-set to other styles of film or lighting setups by doing this.
- Good meter for both still and cine function
- 3 forms of light balancing displays and filtration
- "Analyzer Mode" for measuring flash light
- 9 memory channels to configure the individual preferences
