The Sony ZV-1 is a purpose-built compact camera that combines the established imaging capabilities of the RX100 series platform with an improved physical design to make content more effective. The ZV-1 also provides this crowd with the Product Showcase Mode, Background Defocus, Soft Skin Effect, and Face Priority Auto-Exposure features a side flip-out 3.0 "touch screen and a directional 3-capsule microphone that is ideal for front-facing recording.
Despite its sleek and lightweight nature, the ZV-1 also features its large right-hand grip, suitable for one-handed recording in conjunction with a front tally lamp, a larger REC button on the top plate, and a multi-interface shoe for attaching accessories. Also available is an excellent ZEISS 24-70mm-equivalent standard zoom lens with a vibrant f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture length, and in line with filming while walking, Active SteadyShot image stabilisation helps to stabilize video and the the camera shake appearance for smoother capture.
Within, the ZV-1 has some common image attributes in the form of an Exmor RS 20.1MP 1"-type stacked CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, with front-end LSI, which contributes to impressively fast performance along with wide-ranging sensitivity to match various conditions. The processing capabilities are available for fast and accurate focusing and subject tracking with Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking. In terms of video specifications, UHD 4 K recording at 30p is enabled for extended takeovers, and if required, a micro-HDMI port can be used to connect to an external recorder or monitor. Sony's S-Log2 and HLG picture profiles also benefit footage, which match their professional cine cameras for refined color, dynamic range and detail when recording.
